BCEC sets the sustainability benchmark with EarthCheck Master Certification
The Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre (BCEC) has been awarded EarthCheck Master Certification - the highest tier within the internationally recognised EarthCheck programme following 15 consecutive years of independently audited environmental and social performance. Managed by Legends Global, the venue underwent a rigorous third-party assessment covering resource management, waste reduction, energy efficiency, cultural inclusion and staff training, with the master level reserved for organisations that sustain certification over 15 years or more.
The assessment singled out four areas of best practice at BCEC: circular economy culture, cultural inclusion, continuous improvement, and staff awareness and training. Stewart Moore, CEO and Founder of EarthCheck, called it a reflection of 15 years of consistent leadership and discipline, with sustainability embedded into how the organisation operates and makes decisions while BCEC General Manager Kym Guesdon credited the milestone to the team’s collective effort in improving energy efficiency even as the venue’s events business continues to grow.
The achievement reinforces Brisbane’s standing as a destination built around sustainable business events offering a useful benchmark for convention centres elsewhere India included on what long-term, independently verified sustainability commitment looks like in practice.
