HKTDC Twins in Hybrid Format

The 37th edition of the Hong Kong International Jewellery Show and the seventh edition of Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show, organized by Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) will run from July 25 – 29, 2021 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC).

The twin shows are being held in hybrid format for the first time with physical exhibition and online matching service running side by side. The online version of the show will run till August 5, 2021, allowing more time for exhibitors and visitors across the globe to connect for business deals. More than 400 exhibitors are participating in the show with a sizeable number of Hong Kong based companies as travel restrictions are still in place in the region. Overseas companies from Germany, Switzerland, the United States, Italy, and India are participating in the show through their local representatives.

Speaking about the twin shows Benjamin Chau, Deputy Executive Director, HKTDC, said, β€œI believe the physical and online hybrid format will become the new trend for trade fairs. This HKTDC organized one-stop exhibition and sourcing platform is showcasing a huge range of quality jewellery to suit the needs of buyers from around the world, helping exhibitors to build connections and make more business deals.”

Although the first wave of the pandemic impacted the jewellery sector substantially, the global demand began to rise this year, resulting in a 29.4 percent increase in exports in the first five months of this year. Hong Kong’s exports of fine jewellery increased by a whopping 82.3 percent year-on-year to HK$28.65 billion during January - May 2021. Exports to China skyrocketed by 230 percent while exports to Macao, Taiwan and Malaysia also increased significantly giving confidence for the show organizer to further cement the jewellery industry’s prospects in global marketplace.
