Lokmanthan 2022 Held from September 21 in Guwahati Focused on ‘Lokparampara’
Lokmanthan 2022, organized locally by the Intellectual Forum for the North East (IFNE), and co-hosted by the Assam Tourism Development Corporation, was held from September 21-24 at Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra, Guwahati.
The theme of the biennale colloquium for the third edition of Lokmanthan was ‘Lokparampara’ (Lok traditions), which emphasized how Lok traditions have kept cultural consciousness intact and strengthened the sense of National Selfhood. It brought together academics and practitioners working to preserve cultural heritage. The program helped to raise awareness about the Lok Parampara of the North Eastern states and celebrated India’s rich historical legacy.
Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar, Hon’ble Vice-President of India, was the Chief Guest at the event, which was also graced by Prof Jagdish Mukhi, Hon’ble Governor of Assam, and Nagaland, as the Guest of Honour, and Dr Himanta BiswaSarma, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam, among other notable leaders. Shri Jishnu Dev Varma, the Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Tripura, Dr Ranoj Pegu, the Hon’ble Minister of Education for the Government of Assam, and several other well-known scholars from all over the country spoke at a number of intellectual sessions. The Chief Guest at the event’s Valedictory session was Shri Arif Muhammad Khan, Hon’ble Governor of Kerala. Various sessions were attended by prominent intellectuals, artists, and academics.
Lokmanthan also hosted three evenings of spectacular cultural performances showcasing various dance forms from across India.
