ONGC Strengthens India's MICE Landscape with Urja Bharat Convention Centre in Goa

Oil and Natural Gas Corporation has entered the exhibitions and business events industry with the launch of its Urja Bharat Convention Centre (UBCC), built within ONGC's 250-acre Advanced Training Institute campus in Betul, South Goa. The venue was unveiled through Urjatva, a two-day industry engagement programme held on July 18-19, 2026, drawing over 100 convention organisers, exhibition companies, tourism stakeholders, and hospitality professionals for a firsthand campus tour.

Overlooking the Arabian Sea, the centre can accommodate 3,500+ delegates across a convention hall, with roughly 7,200 sqm of dedicated exhibition space. Its Akash block alone spans 8,353 sqm, housing a 150-seat auditorium, 8 classrooms, and 8 syndicate rooms for smaller meetings and breakout sessions. The campus runs on a solar-powered microgrid, and offers broadcast-ready technology and simultaneous interpretation facilities β€” built to support everything from government summits and trade fairs to destination weddings and large-format entertainment events.

Rather than a conventional launch, Urjatva was designed as a consultation platform: ONGC invited the MICE fraternity to experience the venue and share feedback before commercial operations formally begin. Speaking at the event, Saket Gupta, Executive Director, ONGC and Chief of ATI Goa, framed it as a collaborative step in shaping the centre's future roadmap. Officials also indicated ONGC plans to bring in MICE domain experts to manage operations, marketing, and revenue β€” with the venue's scale reportedly being eyed for events on the level of the Filmfare Awards.

With this move, ONGC becomes the latest large public-sector player to enter India's expanding convention and exhibition infrastructure β€” a space that's increasingly moving beyond metro cities into emerging coastal and regional destinations.
