The 13th edition of the State Level Philatelic Exhibition christened as APPEX-2022 was held from November 23-25, 2022, at Parvathi Kalyanamandapam,  Visakhapatnam. The state-level event was held after a gap of eight years, with the previous one in 2014. 

Philately, the hobby of collecting and studying postage stamps, stamped envelopes, postmarks and other related material is considered to be ‘King of Hobbies,’ and is pursued by people from all walks of life. A total of 109 philatelists participated in the expo with around 5,500 sheets. The event showcased a number of competitions and activities for individuals to engage. 

The exhibition witnessed the presence of PVGD Prasad Reddy, Vice-Chancellor, Andhra University as Chief Guest of the three-day event. He said, “In our younger days, postcards sent by relatives and friends used to be read and spiked, only to be read and re-read even after several years, bringing nostalgic memories. The letters promoted family bonding. Now, e-mails and SMSs have promoted faster communication and the change needs to be welcomed. But the personal touch and affection have been lost.”
